Phalacrognathus muelleri, colloquially known as the rainbow stag beetle, and also the king, magnificent or Mueller’s stag beetle, is a species of beetle in a species of beetle in the family Lucanidae. It is found in northern Queensland, Australia and New Guinea. It can come in red, green, black, and blue forms. It is the only species in its genus, Phalacrognathus, which is closely related to the genus Lamprima.
Phalacrognathus muelleri (Rainbow Stag beetle) has been the official symbol of the Entomological Society of Queensland since 1973.
These Rainbow Stag beetles are known for their distinctive rainbow-colored elytra. This species had been line bred in captivity to create many different colors. Sold as adult. The average time it takes is about 6-12 months until the larvae becomes adult beetles!
Primarily feeds on rotten hardwood or flake soil.
Beetle larvae go through 3 different larval phases: L1, L2, and L3. After the L3 stage, the larva pupates to turn into an adult beetle!

To ensure the safe arrival of Rainbow Stag Beetle Larvae, packages are shipped with either a heat pack or cold pack, depending on the prevailing weather conditions in the receiving area. However, if the weather conditions are extreme, excessively cold or hot, the shipment will be withheld until the weather becomes favorable.
Rainbow Stag Beetle Larvae are shipped with adequate substrate that should last for approximately one week. It is advisable to have an adequate supply of substrate ready before their arrival.
Packages are usually sent out on Mondays-Wednesdays.
